Gary Shaffer and Tulsa City-County Library's Youth Services Manager Marianne Stambaugh were recently interviewed for a feature story on Family Place Libraries. Family Place is a national program that promotes the idea of the library as a community hub for early childhood and family development. Shaffer challenges publishers reading the magazine saying, “If libraries are finding it difficult to be in the book business the way we would like to be (because of publishers unwillingness to work with libraries cooperatively when it comes to eBooks) we can still contribute to the reading ecosphere, as the go-to experts in the area of teaching pre-literacy skills," ...moving book budgets into this equally needed area."
